PEARLPOD is a revolutionary Christian faith campaign that originated as a divine vision committed to a man ordained and chosen for the purpose. It's God’s ordained mouthpiece and instrument to redeem, restore, and judge the Church especially, and the world in general.
"This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth, and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all nations. For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? And His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?" – Isaiah 14:26-27
ABOUT LEIGH MURPHY VERERE
Leigh Murphy Verere (LMV) is a vessel of God, ordained and anointed by grace as a divine instrument to champion God’s vision of redeeming and restoring the Church to its purpose and glory, and to rescue the world from the prevalent power of the evil one.
LMV also stands as God’s voice of judgment to the unrepentant Church and a world content with darkness. His spiritual journey began in his boyish days. After losing the privilege and pleasure of attending church with his mentor, he vowed to serve God.
Returning to the Lord in 1996 at 30, he navigated the ups and downs of walking in the Spirit. In July 2024, Grace found him with the PEARLPOD vision, which became the essence of his life. This vision revealed to him in part during a prayer retreat seven years earlier, became clear as he returned to the same mount in prayerful obedience to God's guidance.
Called to reign in Christ, L.M.V is married with children. He stands as a beacon of grace to his generation, "as a hiding place from the wind, a covert from the tempest, rivers of water in a dry place, and the shadow of a great rock in a weary land" (Isaiah 32:1-2).

THE CHURCH’S DESCENT INTO INSTITUTIONALISM
LMV: Welcome to Pearlpod where we uncover untold stories, the faith journey, and the history of the Church. I'm your host, Leigh Murphy Verere. With me is Adams Joseph my regular co-host.
Adams: Hi folks, welcome to another exciting journey. Imagine walking into the archives to recover stories of the Church’s faith struggles in the labyrinths of history. In this episode “The Church’s Descent into Institutionalism,” we are delving into the historical events that removed the Church from her organic roots and how this subtle shift affected her spiritual integrity.
LMV: Yeah. As everyone knows, Christ’s Church was born after His resurrection in about 33 AD. Her early days, tagged as the apostolic era, were characterized by a dynamic, Spirit-led structure that lasted until 50 AD.
Adams: The Apostles withstood and prevailed against the enemy’s attacks against the Church.
LMV: Indeed, it was so. After the Apostles’ death, around 60 and 100 AD, the Church began to emphasize formal hierarchical local leadership structures and practices that incorporated and reflected the people’s cultural beliefs and history. This compromise marked the beginning of subtle but pervasive infiltrations into the Church's original doctrines and descent into syncretism, a phenomenon that gradually led to institutionalism.
Adams: I understand these developments were charged to the Nicolaitans, a sect disputably connected to Nicholas of Antioch, a convert mentioned in Acts 6:5.
LMV: It’s disputable as you rightly put it. But the Nicolaitans were the biggest culprits.
Adams: So, with human structures and traditions preferred over the direct guidance of God’s Spirit, the vibrant relationship that each person ought to have with the Holy Spirit subsisted.
LMV: You got it. Satan’s sly move mesmerized the Church, beguiled her, and usurped her dominion. The enemy derailed the Church from her purpose and instigated persecutions against her between 64 and 313 AD.
Adams: Wait a minute, do you mean the loss of dominion opened the floodgates to persecutions which saw multitudes die? Many were martyred!
LMV: Yeah, how unfortunate, just like Satan’s usurpation of Adams’s dominion in the garden which led to the proliferation of evil.
Paradoxically, the Church rapidly grew in number despite the persecutions, justifying retention and improvements in formal structures like the enlargement of bishopric leadership and the development of regional councils.
Adams: I have been curious to know what the Church leadership did to stop the persecutions.
LMV: The persecutions stopped when Emperor Constantine (313-476 AD) was converted. He legalized the Church, opening the door to imperial influence via financial, political, and military support, which resulted in increased wealth and influence.
Adams: I read the influence of Roman Emperors led to improved hierarchical models that mirrored the imperial administration, that the Church underwent momentous institutionalization during this period. Everything seemed to work in their favor.
LMV: So it seems! Little did they realize all was not well. With her newfound influences and wealth came grand buildings, ornate decorations, and a growing emphasis on material possessions, blurring the distinction between spiritual and temporal authority.
Adams: Imperial influence could have created an environment where dissenting voices and alternative perspectives were less tolerated.
LMV: You got it. Dissenting voices were silenced and the culture persisted to this day. These substantial drifts from fundamental doctrines and values became norms and traditions, shaping the Church’s development in ways that would have lasting impacts, creating a uniform and institutionalized expression of Christianity.
Adams: Obviously! Jesus warned about the "Leaven of the Pharisees" (Mark 8:15), a metaphor for subtle, yet pervasive corrupting influences.Should we continue feigning obliviousness to our origin and true identity?
LMV: God’s patience with a rebellious and slumbering generation has long thinned out. We must rediscover the heartbeat of the Church, and find our place within its living, breathing body. The time is ripe. It’s time to rise to rebuild the Church!
Join us in prayer, praying in fervid tongues seeking forgiveness for the Church, asking the Lord’s favor, and counting it a privilege to join those called to rebuild.
Adams: Come, “let us rise up and build. Let’s set our hands to this good work.’’ [That’s Nehemiah 2:18]
LMV: Remember that our goals are to redeem the Church, return her to authentic organic communities, and restore true spirituality!
Adams: Thanks LMV and you folks out there for listening. Tune in next time for another inspiring encounter. In next week's episode on Pearlpod, we’ll explore “Judgment Day's Ethos: Unveiling the Day of Reckoning.” Don’t miss it!
